Marcus Willis is a 24 year old British Professional Tennis player. Marcus started playing Tennis when he was 9 years old after competing at National level Badminton since the age of 6. The first Tennis Club Marcus played for was Latika (Berkshire). Marcus then went on to train at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre throughout his Secondary School years which involved waking up at 6am to train until 10am, going into school until 2pm and returning to training until 5pm This was a gruelling schedule, however all the hard work was worth it when at the age of 15 Marcus was selected to represent Great Britain.

As a junior Marcus achieved British No.1 status and finished number 15 in the World on the Junior ITF Circuit with many Title wins across his career also competing at the Junior Grand Slams. After a very successful junior career Marcus started on the Professional Men’s Circuit, but after cuts in funding after just one year on the Men’s Tour, building this dream initially proved difficult to achieve. It has only been due to the partial Sponsorship and the help of A1 Pharmaceuticals over the last 3 years Marcus has got to where he is today. The money sponsored over this period has helped him increase his ranking from the 900′s to the 300′s. Making it obvious how important having additional support to fund a tennis career is.  In this time Marcus focused mainly on the Futures events, these are often much closer together and so are more feasible to play in terms of the financial costs associated with travel, accommodation and coaching.

To date Marcus has won 6 Singles Titles most recently in Spain this May and 15 Doubles Titles on the ITF Pro Circuit. Marcus ultimate dream is to play at Wimbledon in the men’s Main Draw. With his ranking up into the 300′s his childhood dream is finally becoming more of a reality. Marcus quoted“I have never felt more determined and I know I need to play more Challengers and more ATP’s which ultimately, means travelling further”!

It is vital that Marcus starts to play Challengers so he can progress his game and mental ability so that the Grand Slams do not seem such a great step up. Currently Marcus is receiving equipment sponsorship from Prince including rackets and clothing from Fila and would appreciate any additional support through equipment, product or financially.
