Lucy started playing tennis at the age of eight, being consistently nationally ranked in the top five girls of her year group since the age of ten and was ranked number one for her year at sixteen. Lucy first started playing full time tennis attending the LTA High Performance Centre at Loughborough University for one year after moving on to Win Tennis, International High Performance Centre, Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, for two years. She then moved independently at The Don Carlos Tennis Club, Marbella, Spain. After this period Lucy was asked to train at the National Tennis Centre Roehampton where she did before now training at Gosling Hight Performance Centre with Richard Hawkes as of current.

 

Lucy had many major achievements as a junior including GB representation at U14, U16 and U18 age groups, National U16 doubles champion 2008 and represented the UK at three Nike Junior Tour world finals. During 2010 Lucy represented GB under 18’s at The Maureen Connolly Cup, against the USA at Eastbourne. Lucy also competed in the European Junior Championships in Switzerland and Summer Cup in Italy.

 

Lucy has had great success on the Junior ITF singles tour winning many titles world wide reaching a career high of 84 in the world juniors. A highlight for 2009 was competing in the Girls Doubles at junior Wimbledon Championships on court 14 partnering Laura Robson.

 

Kick starting Lucy’s women’s career, Lucy qualified as the youngest British player and the only unranked player in Women’s qualifying for The Wimbledon Championships 2010. Currently she is ranked 640 in the world with a career high of 540. After having many injuries over the past year she is back to full fitness and competing on the professional circuit winning a recent $10,000 doubles event in Gloucester and recently reaching the final in Egypt narrowly missing out on another title. To date Lucy has won six $10,000 event doubles titles and reached the final of a $10,000 singles event in Greece.

 

In the past Lucy has received funding from the LTA and Aegon, ASDA through SportsAid Award, and Tennis First (Charitable Trust). Currently, she is fortunate to be sponsored by Wilson and Lotto for her rackets and clothing respectively. To date Lucy receives no financial funding from any outside source and would therefore, really appreciate any support.
