Amanda Carreras born in British Gibraltar moved to the UK in 1999 with her family at the age of 9. She was brought up in the athletics world as both her parents were athletes. Shortly after arriving in the UK, she joined her local Tennis Club in Bicester, Oxfordshire where she was immediately recognised as having great potential. At first Amanda competed at county level combining her tennis with her athletics where she was now county champion in her age group. Her love for tennis was more evident as time went by and she finally made it her preferred sport soon after her 11th birthday.

Amanda joined the Mike James Tennis Academy at RAF Halton in 2003 and was quickly put through her paces to become serious about her game. She realised she had potential to take up tennis as a career. For this reason Amanda moved to Barcelona in 2005 where she joined the Sergi Bruggera Tennis Academy. She also won the prestigious Aegon La Manga, Grand Prix U14 and U16 Finals in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

In 2008 Amanda became the first non Spaniard to win the Junior Spanish Tennis National Championships. This was hailed as a great achievement by many in the game and propelled her into the Senior ITF Ladies Circuit. She was also selected by the LTA to represent Great Britain in the European Championships in 2008.

To date Amanda has won eight $10,000 ITF Single Titles and eaight doubles titles. She has also reached the final of a $25,000 ITF tournament. In 2013 Amanda achieved a high 306 in the World Rankings and No 8 in the UK ladies singles rankings. This brought her recognition from the LTA as she played in both Eastbourne and Wimbledon Qualifiers.

Amanda has just returned to the circuit after undergoing a successful hip operation in November 2013. She is as determined as ever with goals to move up the rankings once again and get into the top 150 in the world in the next two years competing in the Grand Slams. Amanda has never been financially sponsored individually, but has received money from the LTA via the matrix and the International Tournament Bonus Scheme. She also receives some equipment support from Babolat – and would appreciate your support.
